Our story

We kept the noodle and changed what's in it.

Noodles and rice are how most of us eat in Asia. We would rather change what the noodle is made of than ask you to give it up.

W0W® is developed in Singapore by KosmodeHealth, a spin-off from the Food Science and Technology department at the National University of Singapore. KosmodeHealth was founded to advance human health and nutrition without compromising the health of the earth, by transforming underutilised food resources into 2nd Life Ingredients and foods as medicine.

Why we started

Grow it once, use it twice.

Pressing peanuts for oil leaves solids behind, called oil meal. Making potato noodles leaves sweet potato fibre. Both are food that has already been grown and harvested once. We take the protein from the oil meal and the fibre from the sweet potato, and give them a 2nd Life in a noodle.

We don't believe feeding people well means growing more. Using each crop twice is our part of the answer. We call it #Waste2health.

Your health still comes first. We only use a 2nd Life Ingredient where it is good for the person eating it. That is why two of ProTEGO®'s four ingredients are 2nd Life Ingredients: the peanut protein and the sweet potato fibre.

Our name

What the '0' in W0W® stands for.

Every W0W® product is built on two zeros:

  • 0 Glycemic Spike
  • 0 Waste, 2nd Life ingredients
ProTEGO®, a W0W® product. Protein Protects.

ProTEGO® means Protein Protects.

'Tego' is Latin for 'Protect', so ProTEGO® means Protein Protects. It protects your health with 31.9g of protein per 100g and a low GI, and protects the earth with upcycled 2nd Life ingredients, ingredients with no adverse climatic impact.

How we got here

From spent barley to ProTEGO®.

  1. 2021

    Our first noodle.

W0W® Barley Fresh was made from barley protein and fibre recovered from spent barley grains. It was so unlike other noodles that normal noodle factories could not make it at scale, so we stopped making it. The barley stalk in our logo comes from that noodle.

  2. 2023

Our partnership with Nestlé R&D and Nestlé Singapore was given the Most Transformational Collaboration Award by the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce.

  3. 2024

Sustainable Solution Apex Award by the UN Global Compact Network Singapore.

  4. 2025

    ProTEGO®.

Launched in September 2025. A dry noodle with 25.5g of protein in every 80g pack, made with 2nd Life peanut protein and sweet potato fibre.
