Kosmode Health Wins Apex Corporate Sustainability Award 2024

In 2024, Kosmode Health was honoured with the prestigious Apex Corporate Sustainability Award, presented by the UN Global Compact Network Singapore. This accolade recognises businesses in Singapore that demonstrate exceptional commitment to corporate sustainability, with operations and solutions that embody the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of environment, human rights, labour, and anti-corruption.


Redefining Sustainability in Food Systems

Kosmode Health was recognised for its pioneering mission to expand access to health from nature by repurposing agri-food wastes for human nutrition. Instead of allowing crops to be used once and discarded, Kosmode transforms side-streams such as Spent Barley Grains (SBG) into functional, high-value food ingredients. This approach addresses three urgent global challenges:


  • Feeding the growing population sustainably: By reusing crops after the first round of food production, Kosmode demonstrates that food can be produced without proportionately increasing land use or emissions.

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions: Diverting food processing waste from landfills prevents methane release, a greenhouse gas 28 times more potent than CO₂. Every 100 million tonnes of food processing waste repurposed avoids over 400 million tonnes of CO₂ equivalent.

  • Addressing Asia’s nutrition crisis: By repurposing waste into functional foods with minimal carbohydrates, such as the W0W® Noodle, Kosmode provides clinically proven solutions for blood sugar control, directly tackling Asia’s diabetes epidemic.


The W0W® Revolution

A prime example of this innovation is the W0W® Noodle, the world’s only staple clinically proven to produce zero glycemic response. Developed from barley protein and fibre extracted from SBG, the noodle exemplifies Kosmode’s belief that food can function as medicine. Other side-streams, such as wheat bran, have also been successfully valorised into staples like rice and noodles which are diabetic friendly.
